Diocesan Retreat House

A retreat offers time, space and silence…time to leave behind the problems and cares which can overload us.

A retreat offers time, space and silence…time to leave behind the problems and cares which can overload us. A space where we may purposefully be alone and sometimes find true community and sense our at-oneness with nature, humanity and God…silence that can be healing, liberating and deeply satisfying instead of the usual small talk, radio, television and background music.

The Diocesan Retreat House in Pleshey offers a range of options for periods of silence and levels of input. It accommodates individuals on private retreat who wish to get away on their own or may wish to have someone alongside them.

Just as a good night's sleep will not change things, but will help you face a new day with renewed strength, courage and determination, so a retreat will not change your life or solve all your problems. But it could be just what you need to find that strength, that new direction, or that renewed sense of purpose.

The retreat house is situated at the edge of a small, moated village in the country. Accommodation is in single rooms, one on the ground floor adapted for the less mobile.

There is a beautiful simple chapel, small prayer room, sitting room and library, and also a conference room providing full facilities in a separate building. It is the ideal centre for parish weekends, conferences and retreats.

See the Retreat House web site for their current programme.
